Zabbix Forum Mexico 2024 - Solutions for technology sustainability

November, 2024 - Currently, 15% of the world’s GDP is represented by the technology industry, which has a growth rate 2.5 times larger than the physical GDP. We must listen and understand what the Latin American market has to say beyond our ecosystem.

In Mexico, Zabbix Latam CEO Luciano Alves presented a study carried out by IDC and sponsored by Zabbix, titled "IT monitoring perspective in LATAM organizations". This study, based on a survey carried out with decision-makers in the areas of Finance, Retail, Telecommunications and Government of over 100 LATAM companies, sought to understand the journey of adopting IT monitoring platforms in organizations and the level of maturity of the market in terms of the adoption of these platforms and making data-based decisions.

Luciano Alves, CEO Zabbix Latam

According to Alves, one of the main findings revealed by the IDC study is that in LATAM, 54% of organizations will spend up to 15% of their revenue on IT, a figure that historically did not exceed 10%. It was also revealed that 87% of organizations are using or planning to use monitoring tools at a regional level, the figure in Mexico being 89%.

The first benefit respondents identified from having a monitoring system was an improvement in their security levels; secondly, an improvement in terms of team productivity; and thirdly, they provided better customer service. Among the challenges highlighted by the companies was the number and complexity of legacy systems that support business processes and procedures, in addition to technical teams that lack knowledge about monitoring technologies.

During the event, Dr. Luis Carlos Molina, Head of the Information and Communications Technologies Division at CENACE, presented the success case of using Zabbix in electrical system facilities of the Mexican government, while Manuel O'Brien, Leader of the Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies Committee at AMITI and Director of Government and Regulatory Affairs at IBM for Mexico, Chile and Costa Rica, discussed the importance of using open source in companies and organizations.

Panel de Discusión: Open Source, Tecnología y Negocios

Open source provides the possibility of disseminating the use of technology, allowing companies of different sizes and segments to have the freedom to use powerful tools in a culture of collaboration, which is why Zabbix finds it essential to make these spaces for discussion available.

In his presentation, Samuel Germán, Head of Customer Experience Center at T-Systems, Mexico, discussed infrastructure management and how Zabbix has become a strategic partner for them, since all its clients use it regardless of their many different needs and Zabbix is able to solve all of them. As in the case of SAT, where Samuel German said that “all the assessment required was carried out so we could migrate the entire infrastructure to this tool.”

Oscar de La Torre, Associate Director and Transformation & Innovation Leader at Kyndryl Mexico, talked about accelerating business growth using technology, explained how “open source allowed us to reach customers that we had not been able to access before, and thanks to the flexibility of the platform, we have an advantage that allows us to grow in the market, adjusting to various needs.”
